The Nepal cricket team is set to play a practice match in Canada ahead of the ICC World Cup League-2 Tri-Series. Nepal will face the Canada Development Team, as confirmed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
The match is scheduled for Friday night at 8:15 PM. It is understood that players not selected for the Canada national team will be participating in this game.
The Nepal team arrived in Canada on Tuesday night. The League-2 series will see Nepal competing against Canada and Oman. Nepal’s first match in League-2 will be against Canada on September 16. Following that, they will play Oman on September 18, Canada again on September 22, and Oman on September 24.
After this, Nepal, Oman, and Canada will compete in a T20I Tri-Series. Nepal’s matches in the Tri-Series are scheduled for September 28 against Canada, September 29 against Oman, October 1 against Canada, and October 2 against Oman.
According to CAN’s annual calendar, a two-match ODI series with Canada is scheduled for September. However, this series has not yet been finalised. Discussions have taken place, but the final decision on which team Nepal will face is still pending. After the series, Nepal will head to the United States.
Next month, Nepal, the United States, and Scotland will compete in League-2 at Prairie View, Houston. Nepal will play the USA on October 27, Scotland on October 29, and the USA again on November 2. Nepal will face Scotland again on November 4. Following this, these three teams will participate in a T20I series.
As of now, Nepal is in seventh place in League-2 with one win from four matches. The league runs until December 2026, and the top four teams out of eight will directly qualify for the ODI World Cup Qualifiers. Teams that don’t make it to the top four will have to play in the playoffs.
